Susan Boyle - How Worried are You
52Only a few nights ago I found myself- in the middle of the night when I should have been sleeping- worrying about Susan Boyle. So concerned was I that I resolved to contact Max Clifford first thing in the morning and beg him to help her. I was even going to offer my own services to help this poor wee woman who I fear will be hung out to dry.
I never made the call.
Susan is just a "wee wiman" from Blackburn, which I know as the bus used to pass through it on the way from Airdrie to Edinburgh, and believe me there is not a lot going on there. It seems that she was starved of oxygen at birth, though I am not sure what effect it is claimed that had on her. And again it is claimed she was called Simple Susan at school - an innocuous alliterative nickname? Well maybe but as Susan has been quoted as saying she just wants to prove she is a worthwhile person, probably not. It is actually quite sad.
There is much debate about the level of "talent" on this Britains Got Talent thing and, more specifically, Susans talent. Her voice is not that good despite what her voice coach said on GMTV this morning but no one, least of all her, could have forseen the global phenomenon that she has now become - 286 million hits, appearances on Oprah, The Simpsons, South Park, Japan and the USA reporting on her daily. It's really scary.
Win or no win on Saturday night- what happens next? I could not even hazard a guess but I do fear for her.
Is it too late for someone to keep her safe because whatever way that vote goes, she is going to need it!

k8e, I disagree with you sentiment but can empathize with the Susan Boyle of the past.
Susan Boyle has proven to everyone that she has risen above the label that people want to pin on her as a frumpy spinster. Her mother may have had a lot to do with her delay of a career that I am convinced that she can handle and is ready to face to the world. Madonna can't sing as well and only managed to keep herself up as she is well over Susan Boyle's age. Madonna tries to fit what a singing start should look like.
Susan Boyle is not a saint but she probably has inspired millions of people to follow their dreams. I think that it is not safe to live in fear that tends to restrain you and keep you immobile. Susan Boyle as a church goer must have pulled on her faith to move forward in her career. I am sure she was not alone on that stage and probably had her mother's spirit and her faith to make that first most important step. A Oprah would say, Susan, you go girl!
